read Mr. Tenders Girl by Charlie Wilson
Much more dark than his other stories with a strong female center character. Inspired by the Slenderman events. Alice endured near death from a stabbing when she was 12. The story was sensationalized because her perpetrators were twins sisters, also 12, who were obsessed with Mr. Tender. The author of the stories was Alice's dad.
Enjoyed

read Overgrowth by Mira Grant
What if plants from a seed hurtling through space in the ice and fire of a comet can survive and grow an alien plant on a distant land called Earth?
One day 3 yr old Anastasia playing in the backyard is lured into the woods and drawn in by one of those plants and as the neighborhood searches for her she is reborn looking the same outside but she is bow one of them....a vanguard professing the coming of her alien species.
Many thought she was an eccentric nut but a few tolerated her and even found her lovable and employable...until one day she proved all the doubters wrong and her parent a giant plant spider and a bunch of her scattered siblings found one another and took over the earth.
The gardener in me rejoices and says why couldn't this sci fi doctor who sort of scenario exist. If a Venus fly trap can eat bugs why not a bigger plant eat a small child and then rebuild it as a plant and learn from its surroundings.

read The Raven Boys: The Graphic Novel by Maggie Stiefvater
Stephanie Williams (Adapter), Sas Milledge (illustrator)
Probably one of the best graphic novel retellings of a novel on the market. It was cohesive, didn't feel rushed, and didn't leave anything out as far as I can remember (except the mint plant, but maybe that's in a later book and I'm misremembering or it's just that no one cares about the mint plant other than me). Also the art was lovely and I was ecstatic about the character portrayals! You can really tell how hands on Maggie Stiefvater was with this book and how much TLC was given to its creation by all parties involved.
A full 5 Stars!

read Society of Lies by Lauren Ling Brown
Society of Lies by Lauren Ling Brown is a twisty campus mystery that kept me reading to the end, but it felt longer than it needed to be. The pacing dragged in places, and the large cast of characters often made it hard to keep track of who was who. While the premise had promise, the story didn’t fully deliver for me. Overall, it was just okay, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

read Broken Country by Clare Leslie Hall
Broken Country by Clare Leslie Hall is a gripping story about a woman named Beth whose past and present collide during a murder trial. Set in a quiet British village, the book moves between the 1950s and 1960s, showing how a teenage love triangle led to tragedy. As secrets are uncovered, Beth must face the choices she made and the life she built. The story is emotional, suspenseful, and keeps you turning the pages. I couldn’t put it down and would definitely recommend it.

I enjoyed reading Author Kies Crime Reporter mystery! I hope you enjoy the book as much as I did. There are romantic scenes in the book of Geneva and Kevin, which were very enjoyable to read, as well as, eerie ones, when Geneva, an investigative reporter has to write the story about 6 nude people found deceased and brutally killed in a mansion on the coast of Long Island Sound. A great read if you are curious about crime!

read State v. Claus by P. Jo Anne Burgh
State v. Claus by P. Jo Anne Burgh is a charming legal mystery with a holiday twist. When lawyer Meg Riley is assigned to defend a man claiming to be the son of Santa Claus, what starts as a strange trespassing case turns into something much deeper. As Meg navigates skeptical partners, political pressure, and her growing connection to her client, she’s forced to question what’s real and what’s possible. The courtroom drama is fun and smart, and about halfway through, I couldn’t put it down. It’s a festive, feel-good read with heart, humor, and a little bit of magic.

The Wedding People by Alison Espach is a light but moving story that follows a woman who plans to take her life at a glamorous hotel in Newport, Rhode Island. Upon her arrival she becomes intertwined with hotel guests who have arrived for a week long wedding celebration and will ultimately make her rethink her life plans. The writing is simple but thoughtful, with just the right mix of humor and heart. I really enjoyed this book and found it easy to get lost in. It’s one I’d definitely recommend to others.

Fictional romance. Not generally what I read but it was recommended so I tried it. As expected, I didn’t enjoy it as much as so many others on Goodreads. This mystery is set in England where writers are getting murdered. The detectives are an octogenarian and a Ukranian young woman who are approached to solve the murder of a writer and who see the connection with murders of other writers. read Harvest of Empire by Juan Gonzalez
Author Gonzales writes a thorough history book of Latinos in America. I learned alot about not only the history, but why people migrate to the US and it's not always to break laws of immigration but of necessity to survive. It could be from political unrest and instability in their country, poverty in their country of origin, to seek employment opportunities, for financial reasons, or to start anew in safe communities like in California or New York City. Sometimes people are forced to move due to wars of political nature, gang violence, guerilla warfare, or our governments paving the door for better opportunities and offer asylum and incentives like with Cuban people under communism and under Castros dictatorship. A great read with lots of research and mention of laws, especially those of immigration and human rights and how Latinos and people of Other countries have made an impact on the United States. History is repeating itself under our current Administration as immigrated are d

This was a recommended book to me! My first Historical Fiction, and first Kristin Hannah read. Wow what a fantastic read!
As a Nurse, Patriot and family member to someone who to this day educates as a form of coping about their time In and after Vietnam, this was a perfect read. It was vivid, I could see what was happening in the book like a movie in my head. It was a book filled with emotions that you could literally feel. It was fictional but realistic. Beautifully written.
